Welcome Home, Parker Family
A Hero’s Journey: SPC Zach Parker’s Dream Home Build at Republic Grand Ranch
On April 21, 2025, retired Army Specialist Zach Parker, who lost both legs and an arm in service to our country, received a hero’s welcome as he and his family stepped into their new, custom-built, fully accessible home at Republic Grand Ranch.
This meaningful project is part of the Bass Pro Shops 100 Homes Challenge, a national initiative led by Helping A Hero and Bass Pro Shops to build specially adapted homes for wounded veterans across the country. At Republic Grand Ranch, Patten Properties partnered with Design Tech Homes, Helping A Hero, and Bass Pro Shops to proudly support SPC Zach Parker, USA (Ret.), in making that vision a reality.
The journey began with a patriotic groundbreaking ceremony in July 2024 and was brought to life through the dedication of vendors, volunteers, and neighbors who gave their time and resources to support the Parker family. The Welcome Home event featured students from Willis ISD, first responders from the Willis Fire and Police Departments, and a powerful appearance by Marcus Luttrell, the Lone Survivor. With music, heartfelt speeches, and a strong sense of community, it was a celebration that embodied the spirit of Republic Grand Ranch.
We are honored to welcome the Parker family home and deeply thankful to everyone who helped make this moment possible.

Feature Story
Zach Parker’s Dream Home
SPC Zach Parker, USA (Ret.), grew up in Lake Charles, Louisiana, where his love for the outdoors began. After joining the U.S. Army as a medic, he was deployed to Afghanistan. Near the end of his deployment, Zach’s team encountered an IED, resulting in severe injuries that left him as one of the rare triple amputees in the country.
While recovering at Fort Sam Houston, Zach met his wife, Misty, and their shared love for the outdoors formed the foundation of their family. Whether it’s hiking, fishing, or hunting, nature is the heartbeat of their lives. For the Parkers, owning land at Republic Grand Ranch is a dream come true, providing direct access to hiking trails, fishing, and archery.
Zach’s future home is being built on a beautiful two-acre lot that backs up to five acres of green space, giving the family both privacy and room for their sons to explore nature. The home designed by Design Tech Homes and Helping A Hero, will be fully wheelchair accessible, allowing Zach to easily navigate his daily activities and enjoy the home with his family. Living in a supportive, veteran-honoring community means the world to Zach, and this new home will provide the freedom and independence he deserves.
